What do we do?
Dyketopia is a delightfully unhinged queer comedy variety show where you can expect the unexpected! Hosted and co-created by Denver comedians Lee Robinson and Kate McLachlan, strap in for a show that Westword coined “unapologetically queer.” There’s standup. There’s drag. There's audience participation. There are games and events so weird you might think, “ok… am I hallucinating?” (in a fun way!) Dyketopia is the queer fever dream you never want to snap out of.
Each Dyketopia show is completely new and more outrageous than the last. From a squad of gay cheerleaders lifting Lee and Kate in the air while chanting “S-T-R-A-P-O-N” to a “Mx. Dyketopia” pageant, and audience games like ‘Battle of the Signs’, ‘the Dyke is Right’, and ‘Lex Ad Mad Libs’, Lee and Kate continue to push the boundaries of what a variety show can offer.
Why do we do it?
The comedy scene can be tough for queer and trans folks, but Dyketopia is here to change that. We’re all about highlighting LGBTQ+ talent and creating a space where everyone can shine, feel celebrated, and ultimately have a great laugh!

How did it start?
Like all great queer events, Dyketopia started in a friend’s backyard, in summer 2021. In the nearly three years since, we’ve started a podcast, were featured in the Colorado History Museum’s ‘Rainbows and Revolutions’ exhibit, and were named an Eventbrite Accelerator award winner, which enabled us to produce a sold out comedy festival weekender called ‘Camp Dyketopia’. 5280 Magazine has said Dyketopia is now “a monthly staple”- tickets to every show have sold out as fast as 2 minutes in since the very first show, and we’re now lucky enough to pack out the 500 seats at Denver’s Oriental Theater.
